A Weekend Tribute to Lacie our beloved Pet

Lacie, our angel is home again. For those of you who do not know. Lacie our Maltese has been my best friend
for almost 14 years. She has been by my side through every step of life including raising our 3 children. She has
given us more than love than I could ever return. On November 20th Lacie drowned in our pool.

We were out of town in Mass. hosting a family reunion. The reunion was filled with much love. Especially my
mother's joy who's failing health prompted this gathering.

My joyful bliss was over shadowed when we arrived home from our flight and I held Lacie's limp body in my
arms. As I cradled Lacie, Dave dug a hole in the back yard. Alex picked roses and tucked them into the blanket
that I had gently wrapped her in. As I walked towards the setting sun to place her into the ground I couldn't let
her go from my arms. I couldn't bring myself to place her in the cold dark worm infested hole in the ground. My
heart told me we couldn't part this way.

I walked away from the empty grave with her still in my arms unable to let her go... In the process of grieving I
found a website, www.petpreservations.com. I spoke with a very kind and sincere man whom I'll never forget.
We made a family decision to preserve her. The process took several weeks and is different from taxidermy.

I was not prepared for her arrival in a box yesterday. I was home alone and afraid to open it but I finally got the
courage to do so. I can't describe the realm of emotions that overwhelmed me, from spooky to a sense of peace
and love. I shed as many tears yesterday as I did the day she drowned. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. After
a couple of hours I began to brush her and talk to her like I used to. To most of you this story sounds very
strange. But to me, I believe Lacie
never wanted to leave my side in spirit or body. I took these photo's of her this morning.

She is extremely well preserved. Our family is happy that she is home with us. When my Life's Journey comes to
an end she will be buried with me in my arms as we lived...
